# Install PDigger

Requires an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 15 or later. This distribution is signed by **EPROJAC LTD** and notarized by Apple. The app and disk image include Apple's notarization tickets.

1. Open the DMG and drag **PDigger.app** to **Applications**. Quit an existing copy before replacing it.
2. Eject the disk image and open **PDigger** from Applications. macOS may ask you to confirm opening an app downloaded from the internet.
3. Choose **Sign in with Google** on the welcome screen and complete sign-in in your browser. A valid saved session is restored automatically. PDigger verifies the account with its AWS service and prepares local history before opening the workspace.
4. Read the **Public demo beta** notice, select its acknowledgement checkbox, then choose **Acknowledge and continue**. PDigger is currently a public demo beta. Continued use of the service will require payment after a period that has not yet been defined. The requirement to pay may take effect without prior notification.
5. Choose **Request access** to grant Screen Recording and Accessibility, then quit and reopen when instructed. Optional Input Monitoring enables keyboard evidence. Upgrading from an ad-hoc development copy may require fresh grants.
6. Press **Start** and check Current activity for saved screens.

Local OCR, embeddings and saved document maps use the libraries and model weights bundled in the app. No developer runtimes or model downloads are required. Search investigations, Ask, Skills and media screening use the signed-in local.pdigger.com proxy. A Google session and acknowledgement of the public demo beta notice are required before using the workspace. Signing out stops capture and locks all workspace features, including local history and search. Acknowledgement is remembered for that account and notice version on this Mac. Recording unclassified windows also requires media screening; recording is not entirely offline.

The red close button hides the window. The menu-bar icon or Dock reopens it; Quit stops recording. Removing the app preserves local history and the Keychain session. The app checks for updates automatically and offers Download update, including before sign-in. Downloading and installing are explicit actions. The download shows its percentage. Choose **Install and restart** after it finishes, then leave PDigger open while it checks and installs the app, saves your work and reopens automatically. The previous bundle is retained in `/Applications/.PDigger Updates.noindex/` for rollback. Installation waits for any active memory upgrade to finish. Older 0.1.25 installations should use Account → About & updates → Check now → Download update once.

If an older updater installed the app but did not reopen it, quit PDigger and open the installed Applications copy once. The repaired restart path applies after the new app is running.

See BUILD-MANIFEST.json and verification/ beside the DMG for the checks actually executed. Apple signing and notarization establish distribution trust; clean-machine compatibility, macOS 15 compatibility, permission retention across upgrades and full live product acceptance require separate real-target testing.

Version 0.1.36 answers questions about a named day, such as a week ago on this day, from that day's work periods, local midnight to midnight, and reads their saved screens. Ask still widens to all apps and then all dates when a selection holds no recordings, and says so above the answer. Broad questions use your local time and recent work periods. 512 reviewed guides are bundled and matched on this Mac; they shape answers and supply how-to steps but are never cited as recorded evidence. Grant on the Screen Recording and Accessibility rows opens that permission's System Settings list, and recorder-wide notices show their own text again. Capture keeps 0.1.34's adaptive sampling and per-window concurrency. Per-call Luna output remains uncapped and captured images retain their 55-second processing budget; full actual usage counts toward the existing account allowance. GPT-6 Luna and flexible seven-day quotas remain: 5,600 requests / 21M tokens, with up to 1,600 requests / 6M tokens in one UTC day. The account circle opens Usage & stats for account usage and background pacing. Existing recordings and source model labels are preserved. Strict password-field checks are off by default; enable them in Account → Settings if desired. Their tooltip explains the capture-quality and privacy tradeoffs. See RELEASE-NOTES.md for the changes in this build.

Use History by day to open a date range. Circular progress indicators show ongoing loads. Errors offer Details & report so you can review a diagnostic report and prepare an email to the authors; nothing is sent automatically. Current instructions: https://local.pdigger.com/guides/

Temporary sign-in service failures keep the saved account and retry automatically. If verification expires, PDigger shows Reconnecting and pauses access. A rejected session immediately shows Sign in with Google. A successful refresh restores access without repeating the beta acknowledgement for the same account and notice.

## Updating an existing history

First launch upgrades captured and derived memory before opening the workspace.
Leave PDigger open and watch the stage and progress indicator. Conversion runs
in a separate staging directory, resumes after interruption, and pauses safely
if space runs low. Your Google session, preferences and beta acknowledgement
are preserved.

Recent full images share a 3 GB budget. Older memory keeps all text, geometry
and document links, with at most one small preview per app per hour. A preview
cannot show fine details from every earlier moment. Missing files are labelled
separately from this intentional reduction. The ephemeral raw-input buffer is
recycled during the upgrade and is not part of the durable backup.

The original history and archive are kept as labelled legacy backups for seven
days after verified cutover. Validation problems suspend cleanup. Versions
0.1.25 and 0.1.26 reject the new store; replacing the app with an older version
is not a supported downgrade. Do not delete the backup to resolve an upgrade
error; use Details & report or Retry opening history after fixing the stated
problem.

## Local search and precise history in 0.1.30

Search keeps text, exact phrase, pattern and local TinyCLIP meaning matches available when AI allowance runs out. Select the recorded app from the suggestions; `PDF` can find `PDF Expert`. Set optional local dates and times to narrow History or Search; the ending minute is included and the timezone is shown. Expand repeated screens to their original recordings or choose Show every recording. Ask preserves sources and useful partial findings, and labels general guidance separately. Skills can save a suggested guide without claiming it was recorded. Updating an already converted 0.1.27–0.1.29 history requires no new full conversion.

## Capture refresh in 0.1.31

Window and document changes request fresh pixels when the screen stream is idle.
With no AI allowance left, changed loading screens can be screened locally again.
Unknown content and video remain excluded. This update does not repeat a history
conversion or change capture permissions. See release verification for measured
visit coverage; no continuous or sub-500 ms capture guarantee is made.

## Clearer answers in 0.1.32

Complete answers show cited originals. Incomplete answers and refused demonstrated
procedures retain relevant sources and explain the missing facts. Suggested guides
are labelled general guidance. Interactive Luna effort adapts to the language of
the question and supplied evidence; capture, quotas and authentication are unchanged.
An already converted history needs no new migration. Choose Download update, then
Install and restart. See LUNA-CLEAN-EVALUATION.md and STATUS.md for actual tests.
